Swineshead Village Children's Drama Group
The time is now 3.20 p.m. on Tuesday 18th April 2000.
At approximately 1.30 p.m. today I received some rather distressing news. This has meant that I have
taken action and temporarily removed this site from the www.fortunecity.com environment. I was
informed that some of the visitors to the Swineshead Village Children's Drama Group website have
been offended by the advertising that is enforced on the site by Fortune City.
On all occasions when I have visited the site, the advertising has been related to buying tickets for
holidays, booking seats on an aeroplane, etc. However, I have been informed that some people
accessing the site have experienced advertising which is inappropriate and sexually suggestive.
I am extremely upset that my innocent website has been corrupted in this manner and intend to
complain to Fortune City. I object to the fact that a group such as mine, which is devoted to the
development of children's social, moral and ethical values and overall sense of happiness, is sullied
by association with such immoral issues as have been described to me.
Whilst I search for a new host for my website, I will also be updating it, and going through the
processes of deletion, substitution and evaluation.
I sincerely and wholeheartedly apologise to anyone that has already been offended by this
or any other part of the site, and will ensure that nothing in the new version could cause offense.
My intention has simply been to set up a community group, and it seems that my honourable
commitment to promoting the superb ability of the children in my Group has gone a little awry.
Again, I can only apologise.
This does not mean that the Village Drama Group will be cancelling all performances and giving
up. We still value drama, and will continue to work for as long as the children want a drama
group. The Swineshead Village Children's Drama Group is run with one ethos firmly fixed in the
minds of those volunteers that have agreed to work on this, and forthcoming projects:
"Children, their ideas and viewpoints are to be valued and encouraged".
Yours sincerely,
N. Newitt
